Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 05, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the following app and its developer
- App Name: SpeakText
- Bundle ID: com.zihiai.speech2text, distributed on the App Store
- Developer & Legal Entity: wenjin feng
- Contact Email: private@zihiai.com
Welcome to SpeakText, developed and operated by wenjin feng ("we", "us" or "our"). We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting it. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information in connection with the App, and describes your rights.
Local Processing Commitment: The core functionality of this app—speech recognition—runs entirely on your device locally. Your audio/video files never need to be uploaded to any server. All processing is done on-device through local AI models, maximizing your privacy and security.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the following information necessary to provide our services:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we obtain your Apple user identifier and, only on your first authorization, your name and email address (if you choose to hide your email, Apple provides a private relay address instead), to create and manage your account session. This account information is stored locally on your device only and is never uploaded to our servers. This is required to use the transcription features.
- Device Identifier (hashed random ID): When you first launch the App and start the free trial, we generate a random identifier, persist it in the iOS Keychain, and transmit only its SHA-256 hash together with the app name to our developer server, where they are stored. This is used solely for device registration, determining your 3-day free trial eligibility, and preventing abuse. It is not linked to your Apple ID, contains no advertising or hardware identifiers, is not shared with any third party, and we do not collect your IDFA, IDFV, IMEI, phone number, or contact list.
We do NOT proactively collect the following data:
- Device model, OS version, or other hardware information. Device registration transmits only the hashed identifier and the app name described above, and nothing else;
- Crash and diagnostic information: The app does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK. If you allow sharing diagnostics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may automatically collect app crash and performance diagnostic data, which is processed by Apple in accordance with its own privacy policy. The app itself does not actively collect or upload this data.
- Any information used for user profiling or behavioral analysis.
We do NOT collect the following:
- Audio Content: The audio/video files you transcribe and their transcription results are stored locally on your device in a local database. We do not collect, upload, or access this content.
- Business Data: This app does not involve any business documents, images, or other user data uploads or storage.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide account authentication through Sign in with Apple.
- To register your device and determine your 3-day free trial eligibility (based on the hashed device identifier).
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
Special Notes:
- The core functionality of this app operates completely offline without transmitting any usage statistics. Crash and diagnostic reports, if any, are collected by Apple through the iOS system according to your system settings; the app itself does not collect crash reports.
- This app currently does not display advertisements and does not use any advertising identifier (such as IDFA). If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain your consent before such change takes effect.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except in the following cases:
- Service Providers necessary for basic functionality:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple is used for account sign-in and authentication; in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store.
These service providers follow their own privacy policies, and we only use the minimum necessary permissions.
- ASR Model Downloads: Certain advanced language recognition models need to be downloaded from a network CDN (only on first use). Once downloaded, model files are stored locally on your device. This process does not involve transmission of user data.
- Legal Requirements: To comply with laws, respond to government or judicial requests, or protect our rights, safety, or public interest.
4. Data Storage
Local Storage Location:
- Your transcription results (transcribed text, subtitle files) are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
- ASR model files and related data files are downloaded and stored in the app's sandbox (app container) on your device.
- You can view, edit, export, or delete these records at any time from the "History" page.
Data Under Your Control:
- Right to Access: All transcription history and audio associations can be accessed from the "History" page.
- Right to Deletion: Deletion actions on the "History" page take effect immediately, permanently removing data from your device.
- Right to Export: Support for exporting to TXT or SRT files to your chosen device location.
Retention Period:
- Transcription records are stored persistently on your device until you actively delete them or uninstall the app.
- After uninstalling the app, all local data will be cleared by the system.
Security: Since core processing and storage are performed locally on your device, your audio content is never transmitted over the network, fundamentally eliminating the risk of interception during transmission. We recommend enabling device lock screen passwords to further protect your local data.
5. Cross-Border Transfer Statement
The core functionality of this app does not involve cross-border data transfer:
- Audio data and transcription results never leave your device.
- Account authentication is performed through Sign in with Apple, subject to Apple's privacy policy.
- Device registration data (the hashed device identifier) is transmitted to and stored on our developer server, which may be located outside your country or region of residence.
- Some ASR model downloads come from a CDN (Content Delivery Network). The download process only retrieves model files and does not involve transmission of user personal data.
6. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. For users aged 13–16, certain rights may require parental consent.
7. Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do:
- We will change the "Effective Date" and version number (e.g., v1, v2, etc.).
- For material changes (such as changes in data processing methods), we will display an in-app pop-up to guide you to review the updated policy.
8. Contact Us
